A new original activity for the whole family to enjoy

When you arrive on the site, be sure to visit our artisans of old-fashioned crafts. Thanks to their know-how and their talent as communicators, they are able to capture the attention of our young visitors.

On this Apprentice Artisans Day, your children are invited to try different ancient techniques. You will have the pleasure of accompanying them during the different hands-on workshops being offered. You will be able to help them and to test your own abilities.

Attentiveness, patience and concentration will be rewarded with small souvenirs that the apprentice artisans will have created themselves!

Schedule

Ropemaker Our rope maker Jonathan is very popular with young visitors because of his participative approach. During this apprentice day, the young artisans are invited to make their own bracelets. The more stylish ones can even choose their own colour! Artisan Jonathan Roy
Basket Weaver Near her basket maker’s stall, Nathalie explains to your children a braiding method used by our ancestors. Then, using natural branches, each apprentice basket weaver will try out this technique and make his or her own ornament. Artisan Nathalie Levasseur
Spinner Live the adventure of wool with Eveline! A tactile experience for apprentices called upon to discover felt, used in the production of fabrics and hats in New France. Your children will learn a variety of techniques, from carding wool to making their own little felt ball. Artisan Éveline Ménard
Shingle Maker The shingle maker carves shingles – those little wooden rectangles used to cover roofs. François will explain his technique and then invite the young apprentices to try his tools and carve wood the old-fashioned way. Artisan François Sorel
